Every year, Bay Port agricultural students in Whitney Barnes’ class spend months preparing for the beginning of their annual plant sale. This year’s plant sale will begin on May 9 from 2:40 – 6:00 pm.

The plant sale will continue until everything is sold, which is usually within 2-4 weeks.

Sophomore Stevie Robertson said, “I think the sales will go well because we have a lot of variety and it was fun planting things.”

According to Barnes, students grow everything from seeds. During the growing process, they learn about many plant species and what they need to grow. By the time the sale starts, students will have grown over 100 different varieties of flowers ranging from hanging baskets, to potted plants.

With the profits from this sale, future students are not only ensured that they will be able to carry on the greenhouse class tradition of the plant sale, but also hands-on learning from field trips.
