Seventeen students from Bay Port High School will travel to Washington D.C., on January 20, 2017 in the company of social studies teachers Ellie Reich and Jason Berna to experience the 58th Presidential Inauguration.

The students will not only witness the swearing in of Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, but have the opportunity to tour places like Mt. Vernon and other national landmarks in the nation’s capital.

But the trip does come with a price tag, which the students are covering by themselves. Reich said, “We will be doing some fundraising to help offset some of the cost.” When asked what her thoughts were on the trip Tyniqua Smith said,“There were only a select few kids chosen to go and, I’m very surprised that I got chosen. I don’t know what to expect but I’m excited to be able to experience this. This is going to be my first time ever going on a trip like this, I mean I never even thought that academic excellence would be possible for me. I will cherish this for many years to come.”
