The BayPort 2016-17 Mock Trial team has been assembled; they have a strong group of individuals who are confident in making it back to State.

They received their case on Tuesday, October 4.  The team began preparing themselves a week or so ahead by holding auditions on September 21 and took part in improv debates which helped in solidifying the heavy hitters of the team this year.

Their first scrimmage will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017.

The team is led by former Bay Port Police Liaison Officer John Toonen.  “Our case is a Len Bias case. I think we’ve got our work cut out for us.”

“I believe we will make it back to state this year. We have a great group and I’m excited to see where it takes us,” Toonen added.

This will mark Toonen’s final year as coach. ELA teacher Amber Viegut is coaching with him this year and will usher in a new era of Mock Trial.

“I would love to see a team from Bay Port go to Nationals…I believe we have the capability to do that,” Viegut says.

They are fired up and ready to bring home the win this trial season.
